  • Postnatal Parenting Group Facilitators’ Training

    Togetherness Postnatal Parenting Group Facilitators’ Training is designed to equip practitioners to deliver the 6-week ‘Understanding your baby’ postnatal parenting group, combining practical postnatal information with ideas to help nurture mental wellbeing from the early months of life. 

    The Togetherness team are passionate about early intervention and responsive relationships supporting mental health and wellbeing. The Solihull Approach model at the heart of all our training and resources has a significant evidence base both quantitative and qualitative showing the improvements for: 

    • the parent-child relationship 
    • child prosocial behaviour 
    • behaviour difficulties 
    • parental anxiety and stress  
    • practitioner satisfaction 

    The Postnatal Parenting Group Facilitators’ Training is designed for any practitioner working with babies, young children and their families within the context of a postnatal group. 

    ‘Open training’ is delivered throughout the year for individual bookings to a cohort of up to 12 delegates. 

    ‘Closed’ training is bespoke delivered for teams of staff of up to 12 individuals within an organisation with a relevant resource pack. 

    The Postnatal Parenting Group Facilitators’ Training can be delivered as ‘live virtual’ training or face-to-face training by Togetherness trainers, as required.

  • Foster Carer Group Facilitators’ Training

    Togetherness Foster Carer Group Facilitators’ Training is designed to equip practitioners to deliver the 12-week ‘Understanding your foster child’s behaviour’ foster carer group.  

    The group is often used as a foundation course for all foster carers in an area and so the impact of training will be felt in many family homes as research has shown the group helped prevent unplanned placement breakdowns (Madigan et al., 2017).

    ‘Closed’ training is bespoke delivered for teams of staff of up to 12 individuals within an organisation with a relevant resource pack.

    The Perinatal Foundation Training is designed to equip practitioners with an effective approach to supporting families and improving emotional health and wellbeing for babies and their parents or carers. The training explains the fundamentals of infant brain development in accessible, relevant terms to support practitioners in any work with pregnant women, parents and families. 

     Equipped with this knowledge and working through a series of real-life case studies prepares practitioners to engage parents and families with confidence to make a real and lasting impact.

    Delegates will require a supporting Resource Pack (Journey to Parenthood or First Five Years Resource Pack) which includes a comprehensive summary of the Solihull Approach theoretical model, case studies, and a wide range of information on in utero development, baby brain development, the birth experience, fathers’ emotional responses to pregnancy and birth, unplanned or unwanted babies, teenage parents, parents with a disability or mental health problem and feeding. The First Five Years provides more information on sleeping, eating, toileting, playing and emotional and physical development. 

  • Four Work Discussion Sessions

    The Work Discussion sessions build on our Foundation Training by providing practitioners with a forum to reflect on the model over an extended period of time and discuss its application in their workplace with peers.

    The Four Work Discussion Sessions is designed for any practitioner working with babies, young children and school-aged children, young people and their families following on from the Foundation training. 

    ‘Open training’ is delivered throughout the year for individual bookings to a cohort of 12 delegates. 

    ‘Closed’ training is bespoke delivered for teams of staff of between 6-12 individuals within an organisation with a relevant resource pack.

    The Foundation Training is designed to equip practitioners with an effective approach to supporting families and improving emotional health and wellbeing for children and their parents or carers. The training explains the fundamentals of early brain development in accessible, relevant terms to support a range of professions. Equipped with this knowledge and working through a series of real-life case studies both in the two days and the Work Discussion sessions prepares practitioners to engage families and young people with confidence and to make a real and lasting impact. 

    The Work Discussion sessions provide practitioners with further opportunities to reflect on the model and its application in their workplace with peers.

    The Foundation Training for Managers is designed to equip managers within a wide range of settings such as Health, Education and Family Support, with an effective approach to supporting and improving emotional health and wellbeing for children, their parents or carers, service users or employees.  

    Building on the Foundation training information, participants will consider their roles in supporting colleagues to get the best from them and their cases. They will expand their skills in coaching others and considering emotional wellbeing as a parallel process. Equipped with this knowledge and working through a series of real-life case studies prepares managers to engage employee with confidence to make a real and lasting impact.

    The Adult Foundation Training is designed to equip practitioners with an effective approach to supporting families and improving emotional health and wellbeing for adults who have experienced trauma. The training explains the fundamentals of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) in accessible, relevant terms to support practitioners in any work in a range of professions working with adults. Equipped with this knowledge and working through a series of real-life case studies prepares practitioners to engage service users with confidence to make a real and lasting impact. 

    • Introduction to brain development 
    • Understanding behaviour as a communication 
    • The Solihull Approach: Containment, Reciprocity, Behaviour Management 
    • Understanding trauma, including recognising and supporting recovery from traumatic experiences 
    • Understanding the stress response, neurology and its links to trauma 

    The Adult 2 Day Foundation Training is designed for any practitioner working with adults, particularly those who have experienced traumatic events.

Particularly those families who have contact with social services or include Looked After Children.  

    The training explains the fundamentals of brain development, attachment and emotional health in accessible, relevant terms to support practitioners within the social work sector. Equipped with this knowledge and working through a series of real-life case studies prepares practitioners to engage families and young people with confidence to make a real and lasting impact.
