The Solihull Approach is rooted in clinical mental health expertise and the power of relationships making it relevant across all sectors that support children, families, and communities. While the core model remains consistent, we recognise that different disciplines face unique challenges and opportunities. That’s why we offer tailored training designed to meet the specific needs of your service, workforce, or sector.

Whether you’re in early years, schools or antenatal care, or providing childcare or fostering, our tailored training ensures you or your team receive relevant, practical, and impactful learning that aligns with your context.
Tailored training offers
We currently offer tailored versions of our Foundation Training for the following settings:

Support professionals working with expectant parents to understand the emotional journey of pregnancy and early bonding.

Support early years practitioners to understand the emotional world of young children, build strong connections, and respond to behaviour with empathy and insight.

Support practitioners to understand the impact of trauma, attachment disruption, and how to create emotionally safe environments for children in care.

For all school staff to learn about emotional development in childhood and build strong connections across the whole school community raising emotional wellbeing and realising the benefits of a thriving cohort.

Equip practitioners with an effective, trauma informed, approach to supporting and improving emotional health and wellbeing for adult clients.

For managers and team leaders supporting greater understanding of professional relationships as well as practice improvement
Parent Group Facilitators’ training
Follow on training is also available to support practitioners to deliver focused groups. The one-day facilitator training course is tailored for the group using group-specific manuals. Groups include:
Train to facilitate the parent group ‘Understanding your child’s behaviour’, a ten-week structured group for parents of children of all ages
Deliver our five-week journey to parenthood, a face-to-face antenatal group developed by midwives, health practitioners and clinical psychologists and psychotherapists to introduce the principles of the Solihull Approach at the very start of the parenting journey
Deliver our group for foster carers to support fostering parents through structured sessions focused on understanding childhood development and creating emotionally safe environments for the whole family.
Deliver our face-to-face postnatal group, Understanding your baby, developed by health visitors and clinical psychologists and psychotherapists to introduce the principles of the Solihull Approach at the very start of the parenting journey.
The enhanced face-to-face parent and baby group offering extra support for new parents experiencing greater difficulties.
