Togetherness Foster Carer Group Facilitators’ Training is designed to equip practitioners to deliver the 12-week ‘Understanding your foster child’s behaviour’ foster carer group.

The group is often used as a foundation course for all foster carers in an area and so the impact of training will be felt in many family homes as research has shown the group helped prevent unplanned placement breakdowns (Madigan et al., 2017).

The Togetherness team are passionate about early intervention and responsive relationships supporting mental health and wellbeing. The Solihull Approach model at the heart of all our training and resources has a significant evidence base both quantitative and qualitative showing the improvements for:

  • the parent-child relationship
  • child prosocial behaviour
  • behaviour difficulties
  • parental anxiety and stress
  • practitioner satisfaction

The Foster Carer Group Facilitators’ Training is designed for any practitioner working with looked after children following attendance at the 2 Day Foundation Training.

‘Open training’ is delivered throughout the year for individual bookings to a cohort of up to 12 delegates.

‘Closed’ training is bespoke delivered for teams of staff of up to 12 individuals within an organisation with a relevant resource pack.

The Foster Carer Group Facilitators’ Training can be delivered as ‘live virtual’ training or face-to-face training by Togetherness trainers, as required.

For ‘closed’ training, please complete an enquiry form to discuss a bespoke order.

Contact our team to discuss tailored training packages or commissioning multiple training days.

Delegates will require a Foster Carer Course Facilitators’ Manual which includes a comprehensive summary of the Solihull Approach theoretical model, case studies, and a series of frameworks and guides for parents on various issues.

This training enables delegates to facilitate the group with another facilitator (two facilitators required per group). Facilitators will need a Facilitators’ Manual each when running the group, as sharing is not feasible.
