This advanced, certified course provides a deeper understanding of trauma and trauma recovery. Preferably following the Solihull Approach Foundation training, this concise CPD is relevant for all practitioners across sectors and equips practitioners to effectively recognise and understand the different types of trauma.
Grounded in psychological expertise and practical experience, the course content is designed to support professionals in all interactions through trauma-informed knowledge and strategies.
Here you can learn about the impact of ongoing intense and poorly resolved relational stress on the developing brain, be supported with self-reflection techniques and develop conflict resolution skills.

Trauma and the Solihull Approach model
Designed to help move theory into practice, Understanding trauma will further increase practitioner’s understanding of the model and its applications, as well as using the concepts to illuminate an understanding of trauma.
Modes of delivery
Face-to-face
Understanding trauma can be delivered by our trainers for small groups. We facilitate group learning and discussion with shared experience and examples.
Online
The online course is hosted on our digital learning platform and can be followed in your own time, from the comfort of your own home or office. The modules are simple to understand, divided into small sections and include examples from across our work.
Certificates and Advanced Practitioner recognition
Certificates are provided upon completion of the course for both face-to-face learners and online learners.
Advanced Trained Practitioner certificates are awarded to those who have completed three advanced level courses following the Solihull Approach Foundation training. To receive your advanced trained practitioner certificate, please contact the Solihull Approach team providing copies of your qualifying training certificates.
