We understand that family life can be busy. As part of our ongoing work to make support easier to access, ‘Understanding your child: from toddler to teenager‘ is now available on WhatsApp.

Delivery of this support through WhatsApp builds on the established ideas and format of this highly rated pathway. Its trusted, evidence-based content has already helped many parents and carers learn more about feelings, behaviour, development and relationships.

The pathway helps families think about:

  • Child development
  • Brain development
  • Reading behaviours
  • Processing feelings
  • Different styles of parenting
  • Rhythm of interaction
  • Sleep
  • Anger and self-regulation
  • Repairing relationships after things go wrong

Built on the Solihull Approach model, the pathway helps families think about what may be happening beneath a child’s behaviour. It supports parents and carers to understand feelings, strengthen communication and tune into their child’s unique experiences.

It’s not about having all the right answers.

It’s about creating a space to pause, to think and to find a way forward together.

The WhatsApp option means parents or carers can take small steps when the day allows, through a familiar and well-used app. Whether commuting, on a lunch break or thinking about scrolling after the children’s bedtime, we hope the bite-sized approach to learning will make it easier to access learning in small, manageable steps.

  •  Short, bite-sized stages
  • Interactive quizzes to prompt reflection
  • Practical ideas for everyday moments

When the link is opened on a mobile device, it will take learners directly to WhatsApp.
