Togetherness training
Fundamental training in children’s emotional development
Harnessing the transformational impact of the Solihull Approach theoretical model, Togetherness training supports emotional health awareness providing a trusted and evidence based framework for interactions with parents, families, colleagues and all of your other important relationships.

Evidence based training and professional development
Grounded in psychological and psychoanalytic theory, and attuned relationships, Togetherness is a recognised NHS programme rooted in research on childhood development and in practice to facilitate an understanding of emotional wellbeing as well as mental health. The model can be applied to working with families, with individuals, with groups, with a community, or with a large population from a public health perspective. The three concepts of containment, reciprocity, and behaviour management facilitate the understanding of relationships and how to apply this in different contexts.

“The Solihull Approach model is backed by research evidence in early brain development and the significance of early relationships and experience. The emphasis on close, connected, attuned relationships underpins all our training and resources.”
Our training
Foundation
Foundation level training introduces the Solihull Approach model and its application in practice. It builds greater understanding of childhood development and emotional health and equips practitioners with a relational framework to achieve greater impact for families and is proven to raise staff satisfaction too.

School training
Togetherness offers a whole school approach to emotional health designed to support the whole community. Staff training focussed on the Solihull Approach model for schools underpins a programme that looks at embedding learning in the classroom, in supervision, and in parent engagement.
Parent group facilitators’ training
With raising emotional health for everybody at the heart of our mission, we support practitioners to ‘activate Togetherness’ for parent support in the community. Following on from the Foundation training, you may wish to train to deliver one of our parent groups, each of which is supported by a delivery resource pack following the appropriate short additional training:

With combined training offers:
A cascade model for training
To further support the impact of training in teams, organisations, or communities of practice, the cascade training equips practitioners to deliver the foundation or group facilitator training:

Further bespoke training can be delivered to develop a cascade model in discussion with our Togetherness team.
Advanced training
A series of further or advanced, specialist level training applies the Solihull Approach model to the following key areas:

Advanced Trained Practitioners
Advanced trained practitioner status is awarded to those who have completed the 2-Day Foundation training plus three of the Advanced trainings, either face-to-face or online and is recognised by an Advanced Practitioner certificate. To receive yours, please send copies of your eligible certificates to the Togetherness team requesting your addition to our register.

To help embed theory into practice Togetherness enhanced learning options and resources are designed to help you see impact at scale. These include:

A short one-day training designed to consolidate learning from the 2 Day Foundation training as part of a ‘theory into practice’ strategy.
For those with supervisory responsibility to help provide support to staff members through reflective conversation in line with the Solihull Approach model.
